| How do I know how much bandwidth my website will need? |

You will need to think about the size of your website, how much traffic you are expecting the website to attract each month (how many visitors), and what the visitors will be doing on the website.
So for example, if you have a simple 4 page website, made up of text and a few images, a relatively small amount of bandwidth to support your website is adequate (eg. 20GB). If however your site is larger, or has elements such as videos that visitors will be watching, you will need much larger bandwidth – if you have multiple large files, you may wish to consider buying unlimited bandwidth.
To get a rough idea as to how much bandwidth you will need to host your website, you can use this calculation:
- Take the size (in MB) of each page of your website, and multiply by the expected number of visitors per month to that page (different pages on your website will be more popular than others – eg. the homepage will be most popular, as people visiting the site will go to this page first)
- Add the size for each of your pages together to get a total
This is only meant as a rough guide – your website hosting provider will be able to give you more detailed advice on what size bandwidth you need.
