Where am I? Questions and Answers > Accident & Emergency > I’ve spilt a drink over my keyboard

Question Printer Friendly Version
I’ve spilt a drink over my keyboard

Answer

Don’t panic! In most cases you can make the keyboard work after spilling liquid on it. Carry out the following, in this order:

  1. Turn-off. Immediately turn off the PC and disconnect the keyboard.
  2. Drain. Shake the keyboard to drain out as much of the liquid as possible.
  3. What kind of liquid has been spilt? If the drink you spilt was anything other than plain water, rinse the keyboard using water.
  4. Wait. You now need to wait for the keyboard to dry before using it again. Be careful not to re-connect the keyboard to the PC until you are sure it is completely dry.
